At the beginning of the Second World War, Pista Novak reluctantly closed the doors of his family's freight forwarding business in Budapest and joined the Czech Army to fight the Nazis before joining the French Foreign Legion and following Dunkirk, the British Army. Once demobilised Pista, wishing to assimilate to his adopted country, changed his name to Richard Howard and found employment in the shipping department of Joseph Lucas Ltd where he remained until he had saved enough money to start up the family business again, here in the UK.
Incorporated in 1956, Howard Shipping continues to be a family owned and run business providing the highest level of service to its clients. We are a forward thinking company that embraces the newest technology and methods whilst firmly keeping old fashioned values of reliability & service at our core. We operate with our clients' best interests in mind at all times, delivering cost effective and resourceful solutions to their transport needs. Where operational problems occur, as they unfortunately but inevitably do from time to time, we separate ourselves from our competitors by taking unflinching responsibility for their resolution thereby minimising their impact to the supply chain.
